Hiroshi follows 0.MINOR.PATCH.
  • The major stays 0 until the desktop shell and the app surface are stable. A 1.0.0 would be a promise the project cannot keep yet.
  • The minor counts the feature releases and goes up to 255 before 1.0.0. 0.1.0 shipped the cockpit, 0.2.0 shipped the window work.
  • The patch counts the fixes inside a feature release.
So the ceiling before the major bump is 0.255.x.

Where the version lives

In package.json, and nowhere else. A release is one number and one changelog entry.
The app is private, so it is not published to npm. The version still matters: it names the release in the changelog and in the CI.

The changelog

CHANGELOG.md follows Keep a Changelog and records what every release changed, in the added, fixed and changed groups.

The releases

0.2.0

The window work: the titlebar drags the window, the maximize button restores it, a double click zooms it. The integration suite rewritten against the current cockpit. The move to the released @gpuix/react 0.11.0, and the CI.

0.1.0

The cockpit itself: the transcript, the composer, the sidebar, the inspector, the right panel with the surfaces, the settings view, the custom titlebar and the resizable drawers.
